Flowers & Pearls Floppy Hat

I decided that my Flowered Beanie needed a little update.  Maybe something floppy (which you all know I love!), maybe with a little more texture, and maybe some different, bigger flowers.  Well, that's how my Flowers & Pearls Floppy Hat came into being!  I think it is so much fun, and gives me a retro vibe while still maintaining a modern style.  I love clothing like that, and will likely be continuing to do more projects for this little 'collection'!




Materials

• 1 sk Caron Simply Soft in Bone
• Size H Crochet Hook
• Yarn Sewing needle

Pearl Pattern

Row 1 (RS): hdc in each st, join with sl st.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Work hdc in first st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, hdc in each of next 3 sts; rep from *, end with hdc in each of last 2 sts, join with sl st.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Work hdc in each of next 2 hdc, *work pearl in next ch-1 sp, hdc in each of next 3 hdc; rep from *, end with hdc in last hdc, join with sl st.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Work dc in first hdc, *hdc in ch at top of pearl, dc in each of next 3 hdc; rep from *, end with dc in each of last 2 hdc, join with sl st.  Ch 1, turn.

Rows 5-6: dc in each st, join with sl st.  Ch1, turn.

Pearl

*Yo twice, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, [yo, draw through 2 lps] twice; rep from * 4 times more, yo and draw through all 6 lps on hook, ch 1.

Flower (Make 2)

Ch 2.

Round 1: 5sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to 1st sc.  Ch 1.

Round 2-3: 2 sc in each sc around, join with sl st to first sc.  Ch 1.

Round 4: Working all sts tfl, * ch2 (in addition to the ch from round 3), 1 tr in same sc, 2tr in each of next 2 sc, 1 tr in next sc, ch 3, sl st in same sc and sl st in next sc; rep from * 4 more times.

Round 5: Working all sts tbl of round 3, sl st 3, * ch 4, 1 dtr in same st, 2dtr in each of next 2 sts, 1 dtr in next st, ch 3, sl st in same st and in next st; rep from * 4 more times.  Fasten off.

Hat

For rib border, ch 4.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.  Ch1, turn.

Row 2: work sc in front lp only in each st.  Ch 1, turn.

Repeat row 2 for 72 more rows, then being careful not to twist, join final row with a sl st to foundation ch to form a circle, ch 1.

Row 1: Working along side of rib border, work hdc into each row end, joining with sl st to first hdc - 72 hdc.  Ch1, turn.

Row 2-3: hdc in each st, join with sl st.  Ch1, turn.

Rows 4-6: dc in each st, join with sl st.  Ch1, turn.

Work pearl pattern rows 1-6, then repeat once more.

Crown

Round 1-3:  Work 2 dc tog around, join with sl st.  Ch 1.

Finishing

Sew up crown of head, and weave in all ends.  Attach flowers near brim of hat.
