Stromboli Recipe!

Oh my goodness!  I happened upon this recipe from Burn Me Not, and it is incredible!  It's become a favorite in my house already!  Cornelius even asks me almost every night when I'm going to make it again.  It tastes like an Italian pizza, featuring pepperoni, ham, basil, oregano, and, of course, cheese!  If you'd like to know how to make this yummy dish yourself, keep on reading!

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (I used the one from Pillsbury)
  • 1/4 lb thinly sliced ham
  • 1/4 lb reduced fat pepperoni
  • Dried basil
  • Dried oregano
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Directions

Roll the pizza dough into a 15"x12" rectangle, and arrange the ham slices lengthwise down half of the rectangle.  Add the pepperoni right on top of the ham, then sprinkle it with some basil and oregano.  Add the provolone cheese, then the mozzarella cheese, and sprinkle with some more basil and oregano.  Fold the plain side over the side with the filling, and seal it shut.  Brush this with some olive oil, and add a final bit of oregano.

Bake on a baking sheet at 400 degrees F for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly browned.  Let it cool slightly, then cut into 1" slices.  Enjoy!
